In one nest, do you Suppose, mamma ? 
Mamma. Most likely they were, my 
dear, as the hen lays a great number of 
eggs. 1 have heard of twenty-three 
having been hatched in one nest. You 
have eaten these birds at table Some- 
times, therefore you know how excellent 
they are as food. But the other bird, 
which I told you was called Black 
Grous, 1s still more esteemed, perhaps 
because it is much more scarce. These 
birds are not met with in the midland 
counties of England, but are frequently 
Shot in the North of England and in 
Scotland. Some few are also found in 
Wales. They feed on various kinds of 
berries and other fruits, that grow in 
wild and mountainous places.

mamma, Pray, what 1s its name?
