The humming-bird is a native of America and the West Indies; and the Indian girls are very proud of them, to hang as ornaments from their ears. Mary. Mamma, what can Such tiny creatures find to feed upon ? Mamma. They live, my dear, as the bees do, by the honey they extract from flowers. As Soon as the sun rises they are abroad, fluttering from blossom to to blossom, and humming as they fly. Mary. How I Should like to See one of their nosts.
